THE ACADEMY GAVEL Presented to the Academy by Dr. M.M. House
The inscription in the lid of the box reads: Presentation by: Dr. M.M. House - Boston - Mass. August-1920 May this gavel be used in the coming years to call Our Loyal Members together for earnest and persevering research. May it be accepted as a Token Emblematic of the High Ideals toward which Our Society is Striving. The wood from which this gavel is made is of Particular Historic Interest The Head is from a Timber of the U.S. Frigate Wabash And the Handle is from the U.S. Frigate Constitution.
