Join Us in New Mexico

As the first organization formed with
a specific focus on prosthodontics, the Academy has a long history of landmark
accomplishments that includes founding the American Board of Prosthodontics,
developing the Glossary of Prosthodontic Terms, co-founding the Journal of
Prosthetic Dentistry, playing a key role in the introduction of contemporary
implant dentistry to the profession, initiating outreach programs that provide
prosthodontic care to the underserved, sponsoring or participating as a key
contributor to strategic symposia in prosthodontics, and facilitating the
emergence of evidence-based dentistry.
In keeping with this long history of
innovation and excellence, the Academy is further expanding its influence upon
evidence-based dentistry through a conference jointly sponsored by the Academy
and the American College of Prosthodontists that is being held April 8 in
Chicago. The purpose of the conference is to expand the training and thereby
the penetration of EBD into the education of both predoctoral and postdoctoral
students as well as provide educators with teaching content and examples of
applied EBD that they can use in their teaching. The conference is being led by
Academy fellows Gary Goldstein, Sreenivas Koka, and Clark Stanford.
This 92nd Annual Meeting includes excellent
presentations along with a wide variety of social events designed to sustain
our unique Academy Focus upon both Scholarship and Fellowship. The scientific
sessions feature many excellent speakers presenting on a wide range of topics.
The meeting is being held at the
Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort located just north of Albuquerque, New Mexico. This
unique location provides an inviting and uniquely relaxing environment for the
meeting. For the first time, our Annual Social Outing will include a variety of
event options to meet the specific interests of our members and guests after
which we will all assemble together for a wonderful outdoor lunch in the unique
environment of this Indian Pueblo. The options for the outing will include a
balloon ride, a tram ride to the top of 10,375 foot Sandia Peak, a visit to the
Turquoise Museum accompanied by a tour of Old Town in Albuquerque, or you can
choose a nature walk through the wooded areas along the river that runs through
the resort. The Spouse event will be a visit to historic Santa Fe with lunch at
a local restaurant. Multiple golf courses are located adjacent to and nearby
the resort.
I hope you will join us for this
exciting scientific meeting being held in a very unique resort environment.
