What is Prosthodontics?

- To discuss curriculum for prosthodontics and compare UK and US guidelines
- To overview the challenges that education in prosthodontics faces
Abstract:
The term Prosthodontics means different things to different people. When the specifics of what we need to teach graduate and undergraduates the understanding and the meaning becomes more complex. This lecture will look at the challenges in developing curricula whilst maintaining the essentials of our speciality.
Biosketch:
Professor David Bartlett is Head of Prosthodontics at Kings College London Dental Institute. David has published over 100 research publications, written 3 books, numerous chapters, grants in excess of £2M, 6 PhD students and over 20 master student theses. He is Chair of the SAC in Restorative Dentistry which co-ordinates specialist training in prosthodontics in the UK. David is a specialist in Prosthodontics after completing training in 1999 at Guy?s Hospital and is now a senior clinician at the Dental School. His expertise is internationally recognised particularly in the treatment of tooth wear.
