Welcome to the Academy of Prosthodontics website
Founded in 1918, the Academy of Prosthodontics is the oldest specialty organization in prosthetic dentistry, boasting a Fellowship of distinguished clinicians, educators, and leaders of the profession from around the world.
Before prosthodontics was even a specialty, a group of 31 visionary prosthetic dentists met at the Congress Hotel in Chicago in 1918 as the culmination of five years of deliberations, and formed what would become the world’s longest-standing prosthodontic academy: The Academy of Prosthodontics. To celebrate this watershed moment, and the subsequent century of leadership by our Academy, we are returning to Chicago for our Centennial Scientific Meeting, to be held May 9th-12th, 2018 at the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile.

The Glossary of Prosthodontic Terms
Ninth Edition GPT-9 App URL GPT-9 PDF
The Glossary of Prosthodontic Terms is a document created by the Academy that describes accepted terminology in the practice of prosthodontics. This ninth edition of the Glossary of Prosthodontic Terms upholds the same objectives and standards as it did when it was first authored by the Academy of Denture Prosthetics in 1956. Throughout the world of prosthodontics, it has been valued as a reference for “uniform terminology [that] would permit authors to discuss their concepts and techniques and be sure that these would be understood by those who would read the articles, regardless of the geographic location or the specialty of the reader.”
