Before prosthodontics was even a specialty, a group of 31 visionary prosthetic dentists met at the Congress Hotel in Chicago in 1918 as the culmination of five years of deliberations, and formed what would become the world's longest-standing prosthodontic academy: The Academy of Prosthodontics. To celebrate this watershed moment, and the subsequent century of leadership by our Academy, we returned to Chicago for our Centennial Scientific Meeting, held May 9th-12th, 2018 at the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile. Our Centennial scientific program was carefully crafted to reflect the past, present and future of the specialty of prosthodontics, with an incredible international speaker lineup of prominent researchers, clinicians, educators and other global prosthodontic leaders. It appealed not only to prosthodontists, but also to other dental specialists, generalists, and allied dental professionals. Our Centennial social program was designed to celebrate the history of our Academy in the historical context of the city in which it all began, while embracing all that modern Chicago has to offer. I and the Fellows of the Academy of Prosthodontics thank you for sharing this landmark scientific meeting and social program with you as we celebrated the Centennial of our Academy in the great city of Chicago!
